I bailed out, and re-installed windows from the recovery drive. It was a
painful to re-install my programs, and update windows, but the computer does

I don't have a winxp cd. My Dell has a recovery drive, but I will lose my
programs. I did a chkdsk from a C in safe mode, but that didn't solve the
