I guess I'll take it in computer repair shop to see if the expert tech can
get it working again. So I'm gonna urge my roommate to buy a new one.

I got that fixed now... actually the data cable is brand new.

Right now I'm facing boot.ini invalid problem. I'm trying to "rebuilt"
boot.ini but it kept crashing to restart. I''m thinking bad...

I'm trying to figure out how to resolve this problem, "NTLDR is missing". I
google'd and found a possible solution so I inserted the CD, promted to press
R key to repair windows then log into...

Reverse the installation process

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went with NewsScience's instructions
on his 1st reply, it worked.

Its now all good. Will upgrade to WinXP Pro SP2.

Inserted Dell Reinstallation CD in CD rom drive and set boot sequence to CD
drive then re-start.

Followed the instructions on install WinXP and made a quick format NFTS,
not FAT 32.

Worked fine...

I re-formatted the hard drive from Window XP Pro back to Win XP Home SP1.
WinXP home was original operating system installed by Dell when I purchased
the computer.

After re-formatted the HDD...
