System Restore
When I do a System Restore it goes thru its usual steps and after rebooting
itself it says that it can not restore to that restore point.
I even tried on some earlier restore points and got the same...

Mystery apparently solved. Phone call to a GREAT Western Digital tech
support technician. Familiar with my Intel motherboard. Recommended BIOS
update as sure fix. It appears to have worked.

When the CD would not boot, I checked my BIOS boot order even though I KNEW
it was set to boot to the CD first.
And it was - so I just hit F10 to save and exit and clicked on yes. Still...
