I would call it October

I would call it Windows October. Or if we would have an option to name
Windows something.

Is the August update important?
I've heard next windows will come in 2015. I'm saving to buy a notebook then
with new windows. I'm not sure but maybe I'll keep W8.1 as it is and will
stop doing hotfixes.

How to find an installed KB in W8.1
You can go to Installed Updates window at Windows Update and search for
specific update in search field at upper-right corner.
