On my Sony camcorder 'pass-thru' or 'DV-in' wasn't enabled by default. I had
to go into the camcorder menu and turn it on.

Open my static image (one of my starter kit .png files) using something like
Paint.net that handles transparancy in a .png file....use the eraser or
other tools to take away the part of the image...

Zoom alll the way into the timeline.... pg up and pg down keys are one
way... when you can see it enough to work with it, grab the right trim
handle and pull it to the right to make the duration as...

what you describe about the dragging sounds normal... not dropping into
place on the storyboard or timeline isn't.

I have the same camera, which records avi files using a Motion JPEG
codec.... VISTA 'out of the box' doesn't support the avi files from that
camera, but this is an XP newsgroup and it should. But...

your main Movie Maker executable is the version 2.0 one, not the latest 2.1
which has been out since Service Pack 2 was released in 2004.

No, I don't think Movie Maker is your tool... it usually doesn't work with
MPEG2 files....

Perhaps VirtualDub MPEG... there's a link to it on my website's Setup Movie

files smoothly. And Movie Maker in project mode uses a rough draft lower
