Reminder Newsgroups EOL
My Guess is that Microsoft is Restructuring big time because of the economy
and cutting costs where ever they can

Yes there are other servers that will pick up this group

If you are in a Domain, like you say
These permissions are probably set with a gp on the domain server.
and you'd need to have file in print sharing enabled.
HOWEVER in a Domain, Don't do this!
IMO...
