This has to be a TYPE 1 error/bug on any reasonable compatability test.

My system (Thinkpad T23) and the dvd-rom device (Mat****a) that Lenovo sold
it with could not be more common.

In bios/Config all I see is menu for "floppy drives"

Going within that menu you can ENABLE the floppy drive or a "super drive"
there is no CD_ROM specific listing within Config
