I've considered that, but some of my source disks for various applications
are gone after an office remodel, and even so, installing, getting
replacement keys, installing all the updates etc is...

Everything was fine until I could no longer access my hard drive. I had to
rewrite the boot record and boot sector, and even then XP would not load due
to lots of missed files, so I did the repair...

I have XP SP2. It was correctly adjusting DST. I had to repair by
reinstalling, without overwriting my program and data files. I then let
update re- install all the updates. But DST was still...
