Well this might be promising...

Bring the desktop back as the startup screen and make Metro the secondary
screen for all non ARM platforms.
When that happens, I might consider upgrading.

We get it. You don't like Windows 8.
In fact, Windows 8 is not for everyone.
And that means, some do prefer Windows 7.
Which also means, some do prefer Windows 8.
And oh, some do prefer XP over both...
