Win 7 0x0000008E error

I have just booted up my emergency computer which I haven't used for
many months.

Reported some time ago that I couldn't install KB3078601 and got a few
replies but nothing worked.
Have been looking into it more and advised to do a 'sfc /scannow'.
Did this and read the cbs.log...

Odd HDMI problem

When I use the DVI cable on my monitor POST and BOOT screen shows up as
it should so I can change BIOS settings and run in safe mode if necessary.
When I ust the HDMI cable the system boots straight...
