Laptop is MSI S420, it was bought a year ago.
Windows is XP Profentional
There was no any earlier version of Windows on the computer before Windows

Hi Gerry,

No- anti-virus is not scheduled to automatical scan on start-up. More over,
I disabled my anti virus (Avast) and my firewall (zone alarm), but the
problem did not disappear. Some more...

I have a strange problem when starting my laptop:
when the splash screen appear, boot is very slow for exactly 3 min, and then
it run the usual speed - I can tell by looking at the "streaming...
