Starts but closes down in about 15 seconds

Win XP with only SP2 installed. I can't keep it up long enough to determine
any additional particulars. Normal or Safe mode.

Any thoughts?

HP Photosmart Premium C309a won't install

This printer had been installed by one of our Computer Club members using
the USB connection. Then he had difficulty connecting to it wirelessly from
his laptop and netbook.

I would have already done what you have suggested. How does one start
anything. My USB flash drive isn't even recognized. Ctrl+ESC won't open the
