I've tried this in different ways, drag this folder and various
shortcuts back and forth between this folder and my Start menu --
and NOTHING WORKS.
Does anyone know HOW I can SOLVE this, please!

Maybe. Did you name the folder you made "Start-up" as you wtote or
"Startup" as it should be? If not "Startup", go to Documents and
Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and make one.

It is "Startup". I learned that near the start of this mess.

There are 3 indiviual profiles on my PC, one rarely used. The "All
Users" Startup folder does still work -- as do the Startup folders in
the other two profiles.

I can use the All Users Startup folder for two of the programs I want
to start under my profile -- as the other two profiles also use those
-- but the third program -- the Office toolbare -- is one only I use
and just screws up the screens for the other two people using the
other two profiles.

There should be a folder named "Start Menu" for each user profile under
"Documents and Settings". In each of those folders there should be a folder
named "Programs"; in each of those folders there should be a folder named
"Startup".

Is that what you have? If so, what happens when you put a shortcut to the
desired app into the Startup folder under your profile (assure that it is
not also in "Startup" under All Users)?
