My PC with SP2 refuses to allow the HP site to download and install an
active-ex script to check and see if I need updated software. HOW THE
$&*&^%$ bloody hell do I shut that damn thing off? I need this done. Do
I
have to uninstall SP2 yet again to allow the HP site to install the
script?
Clicking on the bar to allow it to download on my PC didn't work.

How do I get rid of these Sp2 pain in the ass security problems?

My PC is a HP w/W-XP Home/SP2 .

I'm the Owner Administrator of the PC and the only user.

The "pain in the ass" security problems have probably saved your ass when
you go to a malicious web site. Your attitude is why there are so many
successful malware infections.

$$ My attitude soured when the MS warning bar said CLICK HERE to allow the
download then still would not allow me to download the Acive-X I needed. We
should be warned we may experience such problems and how to avoid them.
*When I clicked to allow the download it still would not allow the HP
Active-X to download.* It would be nice of these security-programs
actually worked as they're supposed to. I'm sorry but I spent a lot of time
trying to get that download last night and didn't need all the aggravation
of a non-working (says to click here to download then wont allow it anyway)
security-program.

I'm not going to tell you how to disable the
secrurity because this is a public newsgroup and someone who doesn't
understand the implications may disable the activex security and be
infected because of it.

$$ Then how do I download the Active-X from HP's website???

It is in the Internet Explorer settings under
Options/Security. You'll have to play with it yourself to figure it out.

$$ Following the HP websites information I set my security to MEDIUM and the
SP2 thing still wouldn't allow the download, even though it said to CLICK
the bar to allow it. I feel like I've given up the power over my PC to MS.
The bar shouldn't say CLICK HERE if it still don't allow the download.
