I have just installed a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card to replace
my on
board sound card on my XP SP2 system. I am not clear on how to
activate
the crystallization and virtual surround sound features on the
Sounblaster.
Is it done automatically or do I have to do it manually via software?
If
the latter, where are the settings?

Also, how do I access the Entertainment mode I have read about in
various
places on the web?

Thank you very much.

An install CD which includes the software should have been provided
with the adapter. Aside from installing the drivers it should also
install the Creative Audio Console which is where you would configure
the settings from.

If it lacked an install CD you can download the suite from Creative's
site. You can try the Auto Update but you may have to download/install
the suite manually since your adapter isn't listed in the AU product
list.

Thank you. I found the tabs for Crystallizer and Virtual Surround Sound
but nothing for Entertainment mode. Help for the Audio Console implies
it should be there. Go figure!

Thanks again.

From what I've read at their forum it's not installed unless you run the
install CD and select Custom, then select the components you want
installed.

Thank you. That got me started in the right direction and now things work
as I think they should
