Default Freeware DVD movie to file converter

Hello,

The rendering speed is heavily dependent on CPU. Yes, it is normal for it to
take this long.

Not able to comment on whether commercial programs are faster, you may want
to download the trial and test it out.

Tried HandBrake and it works. Thanks for the link. It took almost 3
hours
to convert a 55 minute DVD movie. Is this normal speed or is my Compaq
Presario V2000 Laptop with Intel Celeron M excessively slow? Are
commercial
software programs, e.g. Nero, faster?

Can you recommend a decent, virus free FREEWARE program that will
convert
DVD
movies to .AVI, .WMV or other popular video file types for storage on
my
hard
drive? I don't need a lot of editing capability, just something
simple.
