I am on my second Zyxel X-550. The first one lasted 5-6 years.

I wish you rotsa ruck. _Nothing_ seems to last like it used to. As I was
coming in my driveway today I noticed (again) that one numeral in my mail
box (black on scotch white) is almost invisible. I put the mail box up
probably around 20 - 25 years ago. I used 3 inch stick-on Scotch Brite
lettering from Ace hardware. After vandals attacked 2 or 3 years ago I had
to replace one numeral with the same product. That one, the newest one, is
the one that's almost invisible now. The 3 numerals that are original are
still showing bold and black.

Makers play a probability game now. If they make stuff exactly "lmn" junky,
enough products last long enough that warranty fuss costs less than
investing in "abc" quality. Too "xyz" junky and everybody catches on. Too
"abc" good and they lose one third of a cent per item. It's all in the bean
counting.
