Default Windows XP SP2 - "Cannot init Direct show interface... (1001)"

I just purchased an MSI TV@nywhere Plus card, hoping to read video from a
video camera.

Whenever I start the MSI video program - the program at the top of the MSI
main panel interface (see the bottom of this page for a screenshot -
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...32&prod_no=616) - I
get the following two errors one after another:
Cannot render audo renderer (5001)...
Cannot init Direct show interface... (1001)

This sounds like a directx issue, perhaps something isn't installed, or
something isn't updated, or two video cards are fighting for the same
resources?

Unfortunately, this means I can't read video from the card, so I'm stuck!
Fixing the video error is critical, fixing the sound error isn't important
(the video I'm importing is from security cameras, which don't have sound).

I've tried updating the directx drivers, but they seem to be the most recent?
I've tried updating the MSI drivers from the MSI site, but they seem to be
the most recent?
Someone mentioned messing with codecs somewhere/somehow, but I don't
understand how to do that.

I really need help. My only option at this point is to return the card and
find another..
Thoughts?
