Default No connectivity after VPN

I have an account that we use to connect to a university network over
VPN. After connecting with the VPN the user is normally able to access
the university web based database through the browser. Access to the
university database (it is a web page really) is granted by validating
the ip address.

I am able to do this normally with all the computers except one. It
had IE7. Thinking it is probably a network issue, i tried removing and
reinstalling the network card driver, i brought the computer up to
date in terms of service packs and patches, but the problem persists.

Normally when i setup the VPN connection i use all the default
settings (that i verified were ok anyway).

I am not even able to ping anything by name when I connect to the vpn.
On a comparison computer, i noticed two additional entries:
destination mask gateway
IF Metric
255.255.255.255 255.255.255.255 192.168.168.212 2 1
255.255.255.255 255.255.255.255 192.168.168.212 10005 1

The computer that has this is configured with dynamic IP, the problem
one is static, but even after setting it to DHCP those two entries
don't show.

Any ideas what i could be missing?
