Default Device keeps trying to install on every boot even if marked no

Thanks for the idea.

I followed the instructions on the Regedit, but it still wants to install,
even when marked "Do not ask again". It's saying something about the port
was not detected or found...

Hi !

I have a HP desktop PC running XP professional version 2002 SP3. Every
single time I boot or reboot the PC, I am told that I have a new device
called "printer" and it tries to install the drivers for it. And every
time,
it fails.

Needless to say, the three printers I have hooked up are installed and
working fine.

I have checked the box "not to check for the device", but it still checks
everytime. And there are no "?" devices in Device Manager....

What can I do to stop this? It's very annoying !!

HELP !!!!

The New Hardware Wizard may detect the printer device after every restart of
the computer
