Is anyone else experiencing that the WindowsUpdate button for legacy
printers has been dead for weeks?

This is a fully activated legit installation where, for weeks, the Windows
update button in the printer settings has been coming up with this error:
Select Device:
Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update.
Please try again later.
Start Settings Devices Printers & scanners Add a printer or
scanner
Searching for printers and scanners The printer that I want isn't listed

Install the printer driver [Windows Update]
Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update.
Please try again later.
Even on Win10 system which already has the printer drivers installed, if I
go through the same [Windows Update] sequence, I get the same error:
Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update.
Please try again later.
BTW, even with the legacy printer working on another Windows 10, there
just
never seems to be a way to easily archive legacy printer drivers, after
the
fact (and before you say it, DD DoubleDriver and DriveBack do NOT archive
printer drivers!).
I need to install a legacy printer on a new Win10 system.
Anyone have a working solution?

This was a problem that harkens back to at least early Win7 days. The way I
got around it then (and occasionally now) was to use the Windows Update
