Default No DirectX 12 on Windows 7, exclusive to Windows 8/10

But that is only a vague rumour, and is most unlikely to happen.
Microsoft would never prevent most of their users (which Windows 7 users
will be for a long time yet) playing new games, since they sell games
themselves they would be "cutting off their nose to spite their face",
as they say.


But haven't they already failed to provide DirectX 11.1 for Windows 7?


It's not fully implemented - but most functions are available. 11.2 is
only available on Windows 8. If they are not updating current O/Ss they
are being very shortsighted. I'll do without the latest games rather
than change my main system.
