Default ME laptop won't connect with network

Chuck:

Below is the IPconfig info on the 4 computers in our home
network. The ME Laptop added recently that is having
problems is listed first.

In a nutshell, well a very large nutshell, here is the
situation. Our small network of 2 desktops (one XP one ME)
and my laptop (XP) is working fine (after earlier help
from you!). My wife returned with her ME laptop (which had
previously worked fine on the network but not with the new
DSL modem we recently installed). At first she couldn't
connect to the network at all. Finally I was able to get
her connected by manually specifiying an IPaddress under
Network/Configuration/TCP/IP -Intel PRO10/100miniPCI/IP
Address. I gave it the address 162.198.0.6 and all worked
find on the network - but she still can't connect to the
internet. In reading the modem info it says to use
Automatically Assigned IP address, so I did so. This
disables the network, and did NOT get her online. But this
was the state in which I just ran ipconfig.

We are using a Linksys Fast Ethernet 10/100 5-port hub
(Model NH1005,V2). I am not sure how to ping it? How do I
find its IP address? But if I assign the ME an IP address
the network does work. So I assume the ME laptop hardware
is communication with the hub.

The Actiontec DSL Gateway is connected to the hub via a
regular RJ45 network type cable. The other three computers
can go online without any problems. But the ME laptop just
won't!

Well, there it is. Here follows the IP info:

My wife's laptop, just returned from vacation, won't

resources and the internet. But her's is invisible. I
can't "ping" it using its IP address, nor can it ping

any
of the other computers. I have removed Firewalls, added
the IP to "trusted zones" when Zonealarm is working, no
effect. Should I run the Network Wisard on the laptop or
could that complicate rather than solve problems? Any
guidance will be appreciated!

Rick,

The Network Setup Wizard is OK when it works - but when

it doesn't it just makes
things harder to fix. Just start with some simple

diagnostics.

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all
c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste

into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each

ipconfig listing.

What model Linksys hub are you using? Can you ping

that? Can your wife's
laptop ping that?

Cheers,
Chuck
