When using windows ten on my hp notebook, which is new, it won’t open a pdf
file with Firefox. I pick Firefox, it opens with ie or doesn’t open.
This only started the last few days.
Thanks for any help.

For Firefox version 57.0.1 with Windows 10 version 1709, in the case
where you are opening .pdf files which are on your own hard drive,
do both 1.x and 2.x below.

1. Follow these steps to tell Firefox to open PDF files itself
instead of sending them to another application.

1.1 In Firefox, go to "Tools Options General"
1.2 Scroll down to the section "Applications".
You will see a search box in this section.
1.3 In this search box, enter this:
Portable Document Format
1.4 Look for the row which has "Portable Document Format (PDF)"
in column "Content Type".
1.5 For this one row, change the drop-down in column "Action" to
say "Preview in Firefox".

NOTE: The row which has "PDF file" is not the row to change.

2. Follow these steps to tell Windows that PDF files should be opened
with Firefox:

2.1 In Windows, go to "Start Settings Apps Default Apps"
2.2 Scroll down and click on "Choose default applications by file
type". Wait for the page to load.
2.3 Scroll down to find the .pdf extension.
2.4 Click on the application icon to the right of .pdf, and
select Firefox from the pop-up.

Ok, I will try that, and report back. Thanks.
