Is that newsgroup being spammed now? It's been very weird over there for
the past couple of days. Just wondering if anyone else has noted.
Paul? Anyone?

The poster is trying to avoid DMCA and EUCD takedowns by posting its
binaries in the (unrelated) Windows 7 newsgroup where it hopes the
copyright owner(s) won't be watching. It has privately messaged
its followers where to find the binaries.

It doesn't care about the Windows 7 newsgroup group or the readers
of that group. To it, they are just "collateral damage".

The big binary news servers don't care too much about text groups
any more. They make their money by selling gigs to binary users.
That is why they allow this kind of stuff in text groups.

If you were using a text-only server (like Paul is), chances are
you would not be seeing this stuff.

In retrospect, I guess this means it ain't gonna change, and one idiot gets
away with posting binaries in a text based newsgroup, and Giganews could
care less. Which sucks. I'm not sure what server Paul is using but I
believe I'm using Giganews, thru Outlook Express.

Guess I'll just have to keep hitting Catch Up, or ignoring the whopping
message counter value in the taskbar of "10,000 messages not downloaded", or
whatever.
