When I opened the Task manager a box would open with the title at the
top "Windows Task Manager". There were three tabs. One shows what
applications are running, another shows a running graph of the CPU usage
and I forget what the third one showed.

A few days ago that changed. Now I get the box but it is untitled and
has no X to close it. There is now only the one box showing the
applications in use. In order to shut the box I have to click on the
icon in the task bar and then click "close" in the menu.

Any ideas as to what is going on and how I can get the old manager back?

Double click anywhere outside of the area where the processes are
listed. For example, the white space down beside the End Process
button, or anywhere around the thin white border of the window. Each
double click should toggle the window between the two states. Quit
when you have it the way you want it.

Problem solved. Thank you very much. I didn't expect such a fast reply and
such a simple solution.

Thanks again.
