The power cable of my router is damaged and so the connection is dodgy

I've often found cables and power adapters etc at 2nd hand shops.

but not necessarily the correct voltage/amperage.

That's why every "brick" that comes into this house gets saved after
device using it goes belly up. I have a box stuffed with old working
power adapters and I just look in it. Worst happens is have to splice
new wires onto it because barrel is different size but first insuring
pos/neg is correct to tip and barrel of socket.
