I believe the .pdf stands for portable document format. It is primarily
designed to do exactly what you are attempting, namely permit a user to
open a document without regard to how it was originally generated. You
need to tell us why the recipient is unable to simply use the .pdf file.
In my experience, applications that purport to be able to import .pdf
files for further editing are iffy at best.
