Default TV reception on XP Media Center

You are correct - of course. Turns out it is "MCE 2005, Update Rollup 2".

Thanks.

Not likely, you need to look in the Media Center application to determine
your version, not system properties.

This would be better posted in the windows.mediacenter group, but you
need a USB TV tuner that's compatible with your version of MCE (2004
or 2005 I'd guess you have). If you can view unencrypted channels on
a TV at home without using an STB you should get the same channels on
the laptop after connecting it to your coax TV cable.

I have a 3 year old Toshiba laptop (M105-S3084) that came with XP
Media Center - but have never bothered with the Media Center part.
At home I also have Cox cable TV, both standard and HD.

What additional hardware or connections would I need to add to
receive SD cable TV on my laptop?

Thank you.

Jeff
