I disagree. Arithmetic is far from being all of what mathematics is,
but it *is* a component of mathematics, even though it's the lowest
and easiest component.


Read all this again. You are not disagreeing with him.


Arithmetic is what the calculator does. Math is knowing which
buttons to push. Of course arithmetic skills are necessary to doing well
at math, but they are not sufficient.




I agree with that.
