Sounds like you've got it configured to start when Windows starts. In that case
it's trying to 'call home' BEFORE your Internet Connection gets established.
Change that in Settings (or Preferences?, or whatever?)!

There is nothing in Preferences that I can find that gives me that
choice, but thanks anyway.
