I have an XP machine that isn't being used by anyone. I ran the Windows

upgrade advisor and the only thing it said was that my video card
wouldn't
support the aero visual effects. Can anyone tell me if it is still OK to
try an install?

Sure.

Since no one uses this machine it is basically just an
experiment

Especially if it's just an experiment, why do you hesitate at
experimenting to find out?

Eh, it's just a matter of whether I want to spend 2 to 6+ hours in front of
my computer, or painting the bedroom. I probably should paint the bedroom
first. :-

OK that's fine, but the way I read your prior message, you *wanted* to
do the experiment.
