I was told by the "genius" that it was possible to set admin access
for a single app in Win8.1, but "he didn't know how" to do it, so I
thought I'd ask here, since I've never heard of such a capability in
any version of Windows.
Auto-elevation is available to Windows applications,
but not to user programs, if I understand what is

Hi Paul,
So, once again the user wanted to d/l some purchases, so I thought I'd
dig into the OS a bit to see what may be possible. It appears that one
*can* set admin privilege levels for individual apps.
To make a long story short, permissions can be modified for individual
applications from the administrative account by right-clicking the
desired program, select properties and modifying the security settings
by adding the specific user account and giving it the desired level of
control.
Although for reasons I have yet to discern, iTunes is still flaky w/r/t
downloading media after granting full control and ownership, this
ability may come in handy for well-written applications, so I thought
I'd pass it on.
