Does anybody know what is the purpose of a USB Port on modern TVs?

It does nothing on my TV. I can't record programs via this port; I
can't run DVD drive via this port so what exactly is it for?

I can't think of any purpose of it.

My TV has a Wi-Fi and Ethernet port and both works so they are OK; I
don't have a DVD drive on it so I thought the USB port might be there
to attach an external drive but no it doesn't work.

The Hard Disk in the set-top box works as it can record programs.

Now What is the USB port for? Anybody can think of its use?

Mine on both a Samsung dumb TV and smart LG TV will play media files
like movies, and music, audio books etc.. The dumb Samsung could have
it's firmware updated via the USB port. It can also be used to charge
cell phones etc., or power the DTV antenna, or a ROKU box.
