he is talking about windows live messanger aka the old windows im program.
ms has forced us to update to the latest version by giveing you a yes no
about the update answer yes and you can select what options it installs with
the new messanger.
select no and you are logged off and the old messanger closes.

It has taken me ages to get it the way I want it, no ads, no banners, if
I update will these come back again?

Hozz.

Hi,

I'm a little confused so bear with me.

What program are you all discussing?

The free messenger client that comes buit into XP (which is what I thought
this group was for ) doesn't have banner ads or anything on my system and
hasn't for years.

It connects and runs fine to everyone on the messenger service and doesn't
have all the bells and whistles (AKA security holes ) everyone seems to
mention like "what are you listening to" , avatar photo's etc.

Have I slipped so far into my dotage I have now entered the world of
security through obscurity without noticing? :-(

.
I downloaded the new MSN Messenger. I don't like it at all! I don't like the way my mail is displayed. I could care less about who has joined who's network! I miss my little search space at the bottom. How can I get the older one back? Is it possible? Would a system restore work or not? Newer is not always better! I hate it. I'm running XP on my comp. Also, Now I have to login every time to messenger before I had it set to just do it on auto. Can I get that back?
