P.S. There's a small MS download available so XP pc's show up in Win7's
"Network Map" display.

Sorry now idea where I found it but it was from MS directly. I keep a
copy of it. It's a small exe (600Kb) named "350011_ENU_i386". It adds
some protocol to XP so it's visible in Network Map. Not convenient to
look at what that was as only pc I have runs XP anymore is old semi-
retired laptop but it's likely the "Link Layer" stuff.

You don't need any download or special program to see XP machines from
within W7. However, W7 is crap at keeping its Network view up to date,
so, after switching on any other Windows NetBIOS machine, what you often
have to do to see it in W7 Explorer is View, Refresh. It also makes a
difference which NetBIOS machine is the Master Browser.
