Paul's info might help if you have some kind
of home made setup that's not entirely legitimate.
But it sounds to me like you might have malware.
A popular scam is to call people on the phone and
tell them they need to pay up for their Windows
license.

A Windows license does not expire. So if you've
been using the computer for years then you may
have malware.

You might try doing a factory restore, or find someone
who can. But be aware that you'll have to reinstall
your software if you do that.

Another option would be to download some free,
portable anti-virus programs and scan the system.

If those solutions don't work you might try posting
back with more info. Like the actual text of the
message you see, a screenshot if possible, what
the top bar on the message window says, etc.

You can also hunt it yourself, using tools from
sysinternals.com, but if you're not used managing
Windows on a technical level then that approach
would be what's known as a "steep learning curve".
