Thank you Lem. The link you provided seemed to portray the symptom I am
experiencing, but none of the suggested remedies worked for me. The final
check was an interesting idea, copying a *blank* sheet of paper. The result
for me was the same 14 mm - wide black stripe.........

The instructions were to copy that blank sheet in *black*. I've just had
the brilliant idea to try copy *color*! Result - the same *black* stripe!

Hi Andy,

I had an HP All in One that had a similar problem. What I did to get rid of
it was to remove the cover and tighten the screws that mount the main board
to the metal frame. These screw points are common grounds that connect each
other through the frame. You might also try (with the plug removed)
reseating all the plugs that go to the boards.
