I don't see anything in the properties that specifically
helps me know where it came from.

If it's a virus/spyware, how come no one's heard of it
before?

right click on it
and view its properties. That often contains enough
information to give you
at least a good clue of where the file came from.

It's almost certainly a virus or spyware.
