Almost sounds like you're saying that you read it on the Internet so
it must be true. ;-) IMO it means the person who wrote it feels "the
Internet" is a blob, a cloud, a thing that comes into the house like
cable TV. "The Internet" is what's at the other end of that big phone
cable coming out of the wall.

Kinda true for explanations to non-tech people, but not true at all
if you know what's actually out there.
