The Windows firewall will hide your PC from unwanted attention as well as
any paid for or free firewall. If you want the additional reassurance of
outbound protection (that is: alerting you whenever some utility attempts
to
access the internet) then a third party firewall is required. Komodo
comes
highly recommended, though I don't use it myself. I have no had any
problems with unwanted net access.
