Default Windows goes to sleep !

My HP Windows 7 Desktop goes to sleep due to system idle. I have set in

How can I keep the system awake?

I don't have any canned answers for this one.

1) There is a tick box in some backup utilities, to
shut down the computer when the backup is complete.
Would that option cause the computer to sleep ?
Probably not.

2) The computer can shut down on THERMTRIP if
the computer CPU overheats. But that's a dirty shutdown
and doesn't look like Sleep either. You would lose
the current session, and see a clean desktop at
next startup. That doesn't match your symptoms either.

My problem is, I don't know of a way to get to
"Sleep" state with one of these ideas.

The "powercfg.exe" utility has an option for LastWake.
It remembers what woke up the computer (if you're having
problems with the computer springing back to life). But,
I'm not aware of that utility doing anything for sleep
problems. And I don't think the energy option would
know the answer either. But that utility, is the closest
thing on Windows, to a useful tool for these problems.
Even if it doesn't cover every possibility.
