You know how F5 is supposed to put a time/datestamp on Notepad

when they are open and in focus?

On some newer laptops (not sure about Dells) the Fn key seems to be
reversed, so that the keys alone have their dedicated function
(sleep, toggle monitors, etc) and you have to press Fn+F5 to get the
normal F5 operation ... worth a try

Mine had a key to flip those features around. So you had to hit
Fn+Key to turn the wi-fi off or dim screen etc.

You can change in BIOS/UEFI how function keys work. On Toshiba you can
so I suspect it works in Dell Laptop as well. I don't have a Dell
laptop to check it out.

The change is to avoid using the Fn key.
