Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, all current updates. Seems to be working fine.

You know how F5 is supposed to put a time/datestamp on Notepad and/or
Wordpad when they are open and in focus? This works on all my other
computers, currently Windows 10 Pro and Windows XP. It worked all the
way back to Win9x.

On the brand new Dell it does not work. The Dell tech support
(warranty) doesn't know. Google searches are baffling and
confounding...

Anybody ever heard of this type issue before?

Thanks in advance.

I never knew that. F5 works for putting the time/date stamp in Notepad
on my almost 2 yr. old Dell laptop but not in WordPad. Mind you, WordPad
already has an icon on the toolbar ribbon to insert a form of that.

Yes. I misspoke when I included Wordpad. I haven't used Wordpad in years.

I use Notepad all the time for memos and notes, etc. That's why the time
and date stamp feature of F5 is so handy. I open Notepad and automatically
click F5 to provenance when the memo was started. If I'm memorializing a
telephone call, I'll click F5 when put on hold, then click again when the
conversation resumes or I am transferred, etc. I do it so much now that it
has become second nature and a feature I miss very much when not available.
