and have access to their files they can never encrypt new

bad enough that they can't see if the other files are encrypted (this

This kind of encryption is supposed to be transparent to the user. It
should be encrypting locally when stored, and decrypting - transferring
(also probably encrypted during transfer) - and storing on the server
(and encrypted locally *there*) when synchronizing.
