Default XP Home and Pro P2P

I had similar happen not long ago. In my case Acronis TrueImage used up
enough of "something" that I had exact same problem. Turned out to be I
needed to increase the "IRPStackSize" in the registry, Event Viewer led me
down that path, sorry exactly what key escapes me right now but I do
remember I had to add it as it didn't exist; used 20 btw.

I'm going through another round of the workgroup P2P dance.

This time it's Home and Pro, and they can ping by name (since I put each
PC in the other hosts file) but can't browse the other.

On both, NetBIOS over TCP-IP is enabled, the helper service is started,
and the XP-Firewall exception is on.

Earlier I tried it with a firewall exception for port 445 but not 137-139
because I have read that XP only needs SMB and not NetBIOS. But the
browser service wouldn't start on Home. It did on Pro though, so it looks
like Home needs NetBIOS. Can anyone confirm that?

In any case 137-139 are excepted now, and still no browsing.

(A domain is so much easier!)

Thanks for any suggestions.
