Because Google refuses to work properly on my old browsers, since they

dont work at all, and Duck Duck Go does work, but takes forever to load.

Two that do work are Metacrawler, and Yahoo.

Yahoo loads the fastest and works the best. However I have to ask if
they own Amazon (or vice versa). No matter what I type into Yahoo to
search for, the FIRST few entries are always Amazon. Often to the point
of absolutely stupid. For example, if I type in "Santa riding a Dog".
the fiest entry says "buy santa riding a dog on Amazon"

That pretty much says who is paying the bills..... especially when it
dont even make sense....

At one time, there was a search company called Altavista,
which ran a small search engine on an 8 processor DEC computer.
It was acquired by Yahoo at some point, for the software.
The URL for that search engine still works, although
the back end and appearance have changed more than a few times.

Yahoo later decided to rent search capabilities from Bing.
Probably because Microsoft had promotional money available. At one
time, Bing would actually pay end-users, to use the service.

Yahoo was bought by Verizon and packaged into a new company
with a meaningless name called "Oath". The Yahoo branding
remains until they figure out what to do.

Amazon can buy advertising space anywhere they want.

If you cleaned out your browser once in a while,
the "complexion" of your web experience might change.
Cleaning the actual "cookies" file, is not nearly enough.
Cleaning DOM storage is required. Cleaning Flash DOM storage
is required. Find all the directories that contain "+++"
in the path or examine things with "#" in the name.
Use the Flash control panel to delete collected metadata.
I do this by hand, because I love to smash stuff :-)
Stuff that doesn't belong there.

DOM storage is the "work of the devil", so to speak.

And so on,

Altavista is what lead me to Yahoo. Years ago, I created a HTM file with
every search engine I could find, as well as sites I use regularly like
ebay. the weather, friends sites, local sites and so on. This list is
outdated and I need to update it. Anyhow, this serves as my own homepage
and is on my harddrive.

Altavista was once my most used search engine. Clicking on it now takes
me directly to Yahoo search.

I clear my cache, cookies and so on, almost daily. I use the "Clear
Everything" feature in Firefox.

I dont have a clue where you find that DOM storage. Is it in my
registry, or what? It sounds like clearing everything inside of FF dont
clear this DOM stuff. (what does DOM mean anyhow?).
