Besides the CC eliminating carrying lots of cash it also
eliminates carrying lots of change. Big advantage IMO.
People paying with cash in my area are the minority.

Debit cards are different. They're unnecesary and confer
no benefit other than not having to carry cash.

DCs are good for people who don't trust themselves with CC
debt. And a heck of a lot easier than writing checks.
(Unless you pay off the CC each month cashback and other
rewards are greatly diminished or eliminated.)

A debit card transaction just transfers the payment from
your account to the merchant. Each transaction involves a
fee.

I can't get away from cash completely (grandkid birthdays
for example) so I do use my DC to get cash at the ATM as
needed. Otherwise it just sits at home. Does that make you
happy...
