Per Ron:
I would guess that any advantage would surface when using the Metro
desktop, which I do not.


Click on the 3 horizontal bars in the upper right hand corner you will
see "Relaunch Chrome on the desktop" if it is running in Win 8 mode. I
never use Win 8 mode and didn't even know about the "App Shelf" until
your post.


Once again I managed to get all spun up over nothing.

Worked like the proverbial charm.
