Of the sites which you have recommended to Scarlett for HiJackThis
analysis,
do you have a particular favourite?

Rather than "piggyback" onto someone else's thread (especially someone so
distraught/confused as Scarlett), it'd be best to begin your own new
thread, BD. That being said...

I DID post separately ................. in
'microsoft.public.access.security', but so far no-one has responded.
It gets a little frustrating ......... waiting for an answer ...........
anyway, I'm sorry for seeking your personal advice in this manner. I'm
pleased, though, that you have taken the trouble to respond. Thank you.

Yes, I'm very familiar with such HijackThis log analyzers. Most of us
consider them pretty useless: Nothing beats an experienced, eagle-eye
when
it comes to interpreting HijackThis logs. Things are changing by the
minute and no one database will /ever/ be able to keep up with it
(especially Trend Micro, who recently purchased HijackThis from Merijn
and
who's trying to incorporate an automatic interpreter into its new,
upcoming build).

I understand, Robear. Which other 'auto' analysers are you familiar with
that I may explore?

If one is unfortunate and has already become infected, is there a
foolproof
way of knowing that one has actually found the bona fide 'help'
organisation
.......... or can one be re-directed to an imposter site which will then
give bad advice?

Still interested to know more! TIA

Dave
